Foundation | My Mini Collection

itsneecola mini foundation collection beauty blog bbloggers makeup five favourite foundations base bourjois healthy mix arbonne mac tinted moisturiser loreal l'oreal paris lumi magique lasting

Foundations have never been my main 'thing' when it comes to makeup but I'm starting to love them more and more as I'm learning how to find ones that work best for me (see this post for what I've learnt so far!). I don't own many foundations, mainly because I try to finish them before buying new ones, but I thought I'd share my little collection with you anyway! Leave me a comment and let me know your favourite foundations, as well as what you think of the ones in my stash.

Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15, £32.00 - I think this is the second (possibly third…) bottle of this foundation that I've owned. I repurchased it while I was still an Arbonne consultant and I would consider repurchasing it even though I'm no longer a consultant as it is such a fantastic foundation. I've found the coverage to be buildable – you can apply a thin layer for a sheer blurring effect on the skin but I've also layered it up for full coverage on a night out. It wears pretty well throughout the day, especially when paired with the Arbonne primer (possibly the best primer I've ever tried in terms of smoothing the skin and aiding longevity). The one downside to this foundation is that is does flashback, pretty badly…not ideal for those clubbing photos but other than that it is a firm favourite.

MAC Face and Body Foundation, £29.50 - the best thing about this foundation? I got it for free! Have a read of this post to see why. That being said, I am still totally unbiased about it and can say that I am so happy to have finally tried this. This foundation was raved about all over the blogosphere a few years ago and while the hype has died down a bit recently I would definitely still vouch for it.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, £9.99 - I bought this purely because I was going to a party post-holiday, totally tanned and only had the Arbonne foundation with me, which as I previously mentioned is pretty bad when it comes to flashback. I knew there would be flash photography so I wanted to track down an affordable, SPF-free foundation to use. I was going to try this foundation at the start of the year but opted for the L’Oreal Lumi Magique instead, but I am so glad that I've got this in my collection now. The coverage is medium-full and makes the skin look pretty flawless. I’d definitely suggest going over this foundation with a damp beauty blender to avoid looking cakey, although with a good buffing brush that shouldn't be too much of an issue. I will definitely be purchasing this (or the serum version) in a lighter shade for the winter months.

Arbonne Sheer Finish Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15, £27.00 - I'm not totally in love with this product but I'm trying to get some use out of it. It is definitely a summer-shade for me (borderline orange) and I've been mixing it with the Mac Face and Body to lighten it a bit and to also help with blendability. On its own this product can drag on the skin as it is being blended and leaves my brush feeling slightly sticky and clogged up…not cute. As with most tinted moisturisers, the coverage is very sheer and I only really reach for this on ULTRA no-makeup-makeup days.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation, £10.99 - I bought this thanks to Jaclyn Hill who raved about this foundation and the matching primer (which I have recently repurchased, click here!) and I'm so glad it is in my stash. This is a great medium-coverage foundation which leaves the skin looking dewy but not oily. I’d be tempted to look at the original True Match foundation as I'm impressed with this one and would be interested to see how the two compare in terms of coverage and finish etc.

Have a read of my blog post on how to find your perfect foundation if you're looking for tips and ideas! Have you tried any of the foundations mentioned in this post? What are your favourite foundations?

  1. I've not actually tried any of these! I'm not as adventurous with my foundation like I am with my other beauty products, I'm very much a stick with what you know foundation user. However, maybe I should branch out! I might find something I like more the Bourjois healthy mix one sounds like something I'd like :) Lovely Post x
